Resources
We know that every feeding journey is unique, which is why we’ve thoughtfully gathered trusted, evidence-based resources to support families through all stages of lactation. Our collection of tips and tricks is designed to help you feel informed, empowered, and confident — whether you’re navigating those early newborn days, building a pumping routine, managing challenges, or simply looking to make feeding a little easier. These resources are meant to complement the personalized care you receive from your lactation consultant, giving you the practical guidance you can reference anytime. Think of it as a helpful tool kit to support you and your baby every step of the way.
Oral function plays a key role in a baby’s ability to feed, whether by breast or bottle. A tongue tie (restricted lingual frenulum) can interfere with this, causing issues like painful nursing, poor weight gain, long feeds, gassiness not related to reflux, and falling asleep quickly while feeding. When a tongue tie is suspected, our team focuses on improving oral function, calming the nervous system, and releasing body tension before referring to a release provider if needed. Our goal is to help babies feed more effectively long term.

Flange Sizing Tool
Flange size is essential when pumping breastmilk because it impacts comfort, milk flow, and overall effectiveness. A properly sized flange fits the nipple comfortably without squeezing too tightly or allowing excess movement, both of which can cause pain or damage to breast tissue. The right size promotes efficient milk expression by optimizing suction and reducing discomfort, which can help increase milk output. If the flange is too small, it may compress the nipple and hinder milk flow, while an over-sized flange may not create a good seal, leading to milk leakage and reduced suction. Ensuring the correct flange size is key for a comfortable, effective, and productive pumping experience.

My passion for working with perinatal mental health is personal as my own infertility journey showed me there is not adequate support for individuals going through infertility and during the perinatal period. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are very prevalent and yet there still isn’t much conversation about them. I love being able to normalize experiences for those going through infertility and parents. I enjoy helping them understand they’re not alone and do not have to continue to feel unwell. My goal still remains to provide a safe and inclusive space where every person can feel comfortable enough to find their genuine sense of self again. I am a safe space for ALL people of any gender, sexuality, religion, race, size and identity. View my website HERE.

Jennifer Worth LCSW, LSCSW, owner of Worth It, moved her clinical private practice into the Foundational Concepts Specialty Physical Therapy Clinic in Kansas City, Missouri in August 2016. Since 2016, Jennifer has created a team of therapists to support her desire to provide comprehensive care to clients. By working closely with the Foundational Concepts Specialty Physical Therapists, Worth It learned how to collaborate with other medical providers in order to provide a comprehensive treatment approach. Collaborating with medical providers continues to be a passion for the Worth It team.
Observing continued growth and the need for closer collaboration between therapists, Worth It opened up its own clinic location in the West Plaza in May 2022. In addition to offering greater collaboration and communication, this move created a new opportunity to work with other, like-minded therapists in Kansas City who are committed to working with the brain and body approach. We believe our work collided for and with a purpose. For the last 5 years, we have supported and walked alongside each other through some of life’s greatest ups and downs. The Counseling Collaborative was born in the midst of our own struggles because we felt the gap in mental health care, and wanted it to be different for other women.
We knew we were not the only women feeling the gap in the system. Conversations with friends and family with similar experiences only deepened our passion to create a private practice designed specifically for women.
We believe our journey led us to your journey. It would be an honor to walk alongside and support you through life’s greatest ups and downs.
The Counseling Collaborative is exactly what our name suggests. We want to collaborate with you through the counseling experience. View our website HERE.

Wild Hope was founded from maternal mental health work, where we had the privilege of walking alongside hundreds of women through some of the most vulnerable and transformative moments of their lives. We witnessed not just healing - but powerful, inspiring growth and transformation.
That experience shaped us. It deepened our understanding of and compassion for the unique challenges individuals face and sparked something bigger: a pursuit to create a space where all people - in every stage of life - could feel truly seen, supported, and empowered. View our website HERE.

First off, we’re Taylor Ulrey with The Holding Space KC and Rachel Hills with Maternal Mental Health KC. We came together with a shared vision of providing therapy for our clients in a cozy, home-like space. We then realized we both had a bigger goal in mind, creating a soft place to land for our clients, and one to share with our community. We welcome and invite other healing professionals and practitioners to use The Tea House as a physical space for gathering, for hosting and for collaborating with us to support folx during their Perinatal and Parenting journeys. We welcome providers from all healing practices to reach out and see if we can work together to make services more accessible and available to individuals. We are in a small little house, but we have a lot of heart, and a warm cup of tea waiting for you. View our website HERE.
